Afro Gucci

You would never guess a company referred to as the ‘Afro Gucci’ would be Dutch. Vlisco is an upmarket brand that designs, produces one-of-a-kind, colourful fabrics in The Netherlands and distributes these mainly to West- and Central Africa and African consumers in metropolitan cities like New York, Paris and London. Founded in 1846, the Vlisco Group and their fabrics have grown into an essential part of African culture, receiving widespread attention from the art, design and fashion worlds. Hans Ouwendijk now wants to bring the African haute couture to the Western catwalks.
